Tuesday's with Morrie "a story worth reading for" :)

Tuesdays with Morrie...

Mitch Albom’s Tuesdays with Morrie is indeed a very amusing story. I was amused on how “life and death” has been defined from start to finish. Understanding the entire story, I find it somewhat boring but realistic, you can really relate on Morrie’s points of view about life.

I can also say that Mitchell David Albom is truly an intelligent writer; I like his style in narrating what had happen for each chapter. I also like how he writes the story to feel the emotions. However, in the audiovisual part of the book, I find it hard to understand that’s why I have to read it twice for me to clear some parts.

I can truly say that the purpose of the author in writing the book has been achieved; I know that the purpose of this book is to inspire and entertain, as I read the story, I can say that I was inspired in Morrie’s points of view about life, I realized how important it is to value the things we already have and to accept that things are not permanent. I also realized that we should not be afraid of death because all of us are capable of it, it will just depend upon us on how we will prepare ourselves and how we will accept the word DEATH.

The subject matter is objective, it is not biased. Everyone can relate on the story. It does not have limitations on what and who can read it. Actually, the story is applicable to all of us, because we are all teachers, we are all educators. Just like what Morrie did even in his last breath he was able to show that he is indeed a teacher, a teacher who is really dedicated to his work and willing to share what he knows.

As a future educator, I can say that this book contribute a lot of things to me particularly the principles in the story. Morrie’s principles about life made me realize how important “TEACHERS” are in an individual. It made realize how essential teachers are in building professionals and teachers can really affects the life of their students. I was inspired to continue this course not just because of the diploma but because I know through me I can affect and change the life of my learners.

“Like stars on earth, Every Child is Special……………………”

“Like stars on earth, Every Child is Special……………………”

Unlike any other movie, “Every Child is Special” has opened a unique way of sharing a heartwarming story about a young boy who happened to have a disorder. It was able to show how Ishaan had struggled because of “Dyslexia” and how it affected his life as a whole.
And even though the movie runs for almost three (3) hours, it didn’t affect the flow of the story. The script was well written and every side of the story was given justice. It slowly entailed the problems of a dyslexic person and how Ishaan discovered where he’s good at.
The story didn’t only focus on the disorder itself; it also catered family values, in the character of Ishaan’s family. They were able to show how love and support can change one’s failure into success.
Moreover, the character of Amir Khan as Ishaan’s teacher also added flavor to the story. He helped Ishaan as the story continues and he was able to bring out the talent of the kid which was painting.
The story really made me cry. I was able to feel the warmth and love on the movie. The movie has perfected the emotion it wants the audience to feel. Story wise and even the technicalities of the film was more than good.

"Every Child is Special" has shown something really extraordinary.

The only answer is...

"UNITY"

by: Yza Denise L. Delos Reyes

What if everyone on earth has the same face?

What if everyone on earth share the same taste?
What if everyone on earth live in one place?
What if everyone on earth are all the same?

We are given the equal chance to live
An equal chance to let each day be seize
To love our friends, family and live with peace
That's what UNITY means

Help the needy and those who’s not at ease

Is this the meaning of true unity?
Just be helpful and perform on duty?
Just be caring when someone else can see?
Just pretend to what you are not really?

Unity is how to care
Unity is when you know how to share
Unity is about being true and fair
UNITY is fighting all odds with no scare.

I wrote this poem a week after Typhoon Yolanda wiped the country. Who would have thought that this simple name will leave a big mark in our history, it left the people homeless and orphaned numerous children.

I wrote this poem for us to realized that the only answer to help those victims is to have UNITY. let us help them voluntarily without asking anything in return. Let us them start a new life, let us help them build the pieces of their broken dreams.

All I want is...

“PEACE”

by: Yza Denise L. Delos Reyes

Have you ever wondered what the world would be?
If there are no laws to give us security?
If there are no Policemen or Soldiers ready,
To fight and protect our precious country?

I’ve always dreamt of living so free,
In a place full of people who live happily,
With no fear, no loneliness, no anxiety.
A place filled only with love and positivity.

I have always dreamt of watching the kids play
Like there is no harm, night and day.
I have always dreamt of seeing the trees sway,
Like it is dancing along the fresh windy air.

It is so lovely to see the world at PEACE
No wars, no fights, no tragedies.
This is what I wish to witness and I say,

“God, please guide us, I always pray”.

This poem was written a year after the Terrorism attack in Mindanao. Many people were killed, some were hostage and several properties were destroyed. This incident traumatized numerous residents in Zamboanga.

I would like to dedicate this piece to everyone, to serve as an inspiration to my countrymen.

BEST gift from HIM :)

My Family

Our third picture together :)))

See the picture above? That’s the best photo I’ve ever had.

Papa & Mama

First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me such a wonderful family. My parents, they are so supportive and kind. I know I’m not a perfect daughter because I often commit mistakes.Nonetheless, they are always there to guide me.

Whenever I have personal problems which I cannot share with my friends, my parents are always open to listen,  give me support and advice. Whenever I  need money they are willing to give me some, especially if it is school matters.

My sister and I

My dad, he is a very cool guy. Actually I am a self confessed daddy's girl,I don’t know but I am really close to him maybe because we have the same hobbies.

My mom,she is an ideal wife and mother. She make it to a point to assure that our needs will be provided. Whenever were together it seems like we’re just friends because she acts like a teenager,COOL right?

My sister, she is smart and studious no doubt about that. She is a snob and loner sometimes that’s why we are not that close. We have an opposite personality because most of the time she wants to be alone while I am a jolly person.Nevertheless, despite our differences we still love each other.

I'm happy to have them in my life and just in case I will be given another chance to choose another family, I'll still choose them.

Tutorial...

Writing a Narrative using Photographs

Before I gave you the tips on how to write a Narrative using photographs, let me define what a narrative and photographs is...

A narrative or story is any account of connected events, presented to a reader or listener in a sequence of written or spoken words, or in a sequence of (moving) pictures.

A photograph or photo is an image created by light falling on a light-sensitive surface.

Joining them together...

Narrative photography is the idea that photographs can be used to tell a story. Allen Feldman stated that "the event is not what happens. The event is that which can be narrated".

So now, here are the tips in writing narratives using photographs:

1.GET COMFORTABLE- this will help you to think easily.
2. Let it Go- this will be useful for you can  write your ideas freely.
3. JUST DO IT- don't hesitate to write, just do what you think is right.
4. Be ready to tell a story- prepare yourself with confidence.
5. Have some type of setting- choose an appropriate setting.
6. Build your characters, which can be as many as you want.
7. Think of your climax, the twist in your story- this will make your writing more meaningful.
8. Give the reader small hints
9. Describe all the situations- this will help your readers to understand the flow your story.

You can try the activity below to help you understand the tips written above:

Direction: Write your predicted  story based on the photographs by relating each pair  of  photograph. Write your answer in ½ sheet of paper.

Movie Review...

A Party of Four

GBBT: photo taken from google

Director Wenn V. Deramas has once again proved his ability to deliver mass-market humor on a consistent basis despite his detractors through his successful movie Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy. Of course, with the help of comedian turned star Vice Ganda, the movie became huge.

Although Deramas’ attacks in comedy became as usual as expected, it didn’t deny the fact that the crowd got caught by his movie.

Mark, Girlie, Peter and Panying Jackstone (all played by Vice Ganda) are quadruplets who are separated not long after their birth. While Mark and Panying are raised by their mother Pia (Maricel Soriano), Girlie and Panying are taken to the States to be raised by their father Peter (Joey Marquez).

Each of the four siblings is defined by their own differing sexual preference, and while this may sound alarmingly sexist, it’s all done in good fun. But when Peter finds himself in need of a liver transplant, the quadruplets are reunited in order to find a matching liver donor to save Peter’s life.

Though the film somehow offered cheap low-brow comedy, for a simple movie addict like me who only wants to have fun and enjoy, GBBT definitely gave me the satisfaction.

Nonetheless, the tandem of Wenn and Vice brought another hit in the movie industry. Let’s just wish that they could make more fun films that also offer different taste of story. Something you’ll remember forever or even affect your perspectives in life?
